Agency VS Registry

The facts you need to know!

What is the difference between a Registry and an Employer?
A Registry is a 1099 employer which means YOU are responsible for your payroll taxes for BOTH state and federal. Suwannee Medical Personnel is a W2 employer which means we match these same taxes.

I know an employer covers employees with Professional Insurance, does a Registry?
Yes we do cover our employees with both professional liability and Workers Compensation insurance as a W2 employer. With Registry YOU are on thier own! Have you looked at the cost of Workers Compenastion and Liability Insurance? That will take at least $3.00 an hour off of your pay rate from a Registry!

What about the taxes? How much does it hurt at the end of the year?
With us you get a W2 by January 31st of the new tax year. With a Registry you are supposed to get a 1099 form showing your gross earnings. This is subject to all federal, state, and local income taxes as well as FICA. With FICA you MUST pay the employer's match as well so you are looking at over 15 percent of your gross earnings! And you MUST file the FICA taxes quarterly to avoid penalties! By the time you add it all up, you are going to owe over 33% of that "great" registry pay!

Can I get Overtime pay with a Registry?
No! With Registry, you are an independent contractor. If a Registry paid or billed for OT with its 1099 employees they are violating IRS rules and regulations.

Am I protected with Unemployment Compensation?
No! You also cannot claim unemployment as NONE of these are paid by a Registry. You are ultimately responsible for your ability to work as an independent contractor.
