May 28th has now been dubbed Healthcare Professional Appreciation Day, according to a press release posted on May 24, 2009.
Healthcare professionals comprise more than the and nurses who provide the actual care. In addition are the x-ray and ultrasound technicians, physical and occupational therapists, executive staff running the programs, administrative staff in the office, security guards who protect the hospitals, and more.
Custom Learning Systems Group (CLS), based out of Alberta, Canada, who trains healthcare professionals throughout North America, wanted to pay tribute to some of the unsung heroes of the healthcare industry. They designated May 28th to be Healthcare Professional Appreciation Day in honor of their 25th anniversary.
So how do you celebrate those in the healthcare profession on this day?
CLS is setting up a scholarship of $1000 toward continuing education for people who apply or are nominated for excellence in service in the healthcare profession. If you wish to apply, or to nominate an outstanding healthcare professional, visit their special Healthcare Professional Appreciation Day Website.
Say thank you by sending a card or a letter expressing your gratitude. Enclose pictures of your journey, showing how much they have helped you. Find inspirational quotes at My-Thank-You-Site if you can’t find an appropriate greeting card.
Flowers bring a feeling of spring and renewal to any office. Send a bouquet expressing your gratitude. If you wish to avoid causing potential allergic reactions to pollen or certain flowers, select a nice houseplant with which to decoration their office.
Everybody getting food! Send an Edible Arrangement. These bouquets are made of fruit and chocolate and can tempt just about everyone’s palate. And, fruit is healthy!
Other fun food thank you gifts include donuts and bagels from your local bakery. Or create a basket of fresh fruits and vegetables from your local produce department or farmers market.
Get together with some friends and family to chip in for a simple catered lunch for the office. Many local restaurants provide reasonably priced catered meals.
If you know the staff well, they may welcome some freshly baked homemade goods. Bake muffins, cupcakes, cookies, pies, cakes, mini cheesecakes. The most important ingredients in anything you make are your love and gratitude.
Children, and many adults, like to be crafty and make things. Help your child find a thank you project at Enchanted Learning, Crayola, or Kaboose.
No matter what it is you decide to do, healthcare professionals will be grateful for your thanks and appreciation on Healthcare Professional Appreciation Day, May 28th.
